At Queen Ethelburgas I joined the backstage crew in year 8. From then on I loved going on a Wednesday after school to learn about the lights, prop making, set making, sound, just all of it. I took an active part in the club always trying to learn more and more and even took free time to learn more. I became so interested in the subject that I was almost always in the theatre with the technician learning as much as possible. My Interest in the subject was noticed by the staff and they helped me to develop my understanding. The next year when I returned to the Backstage crew I played an active part in teaching the subject to my peers alongside the staff and technician. I continued teaching the subject alongside the technician for the following two years until I left the school at the end of year 11.
I joined Richmond School and Sixth Form in the autumn of 2022. I had heard all about the hall and the pantomime and made sure to get involved. A couple of weeks into the term an email was sent out to all year 12's detailing the after-school clubs that would be running that year. Along with this email, we were given a list of teachers to get in touch with about running those clubs. I contacted the teacher who was running the Tech Group and he said he would be more than happy for me to run it. I have since been running and thoroughly enjoy working with each student I teach.
